Here are a couple of recent videos from Max, of Max's Models.
Livestream 114 has a look at kits related to the US space programme, especially the Apollo models.
Then a close-up look at the late 1960s Tamiya Apollo 1 and Jupiter 2 kits, which have nothing to do with either the US space programme, or the TV series Lost in Space. But they are still great kits, and both are motorised.
Paul Adams from New Zealand
If I’m not mistaken, the Apollo 1 and Jupiter 2 are the only SF kits Tamiya ever produced, as they were otherwise into historical subjects, their 1/35 armor line being of course legendary. Never seen one of these in the real world. SFZ
ReplyDeleteI had the Apollo 1 tractor with it's little tyre equipped trailer. I was intrigued with the badge that came with the kit, featuring a completely invented 5 person team to crew it.
DeleteThe added play value of a motorised tank, with whirling illuminated colour wheel in the engine compartment, was one of my favourite childhood memories.
I take it SFZ that you don't include Tamiya's Joe 90 kits as SF themed?
I'll leave it up to Moonbasers to identify the only other SF related Tamiya kit, bit I'll give you a clue...
DeleteShigeru Komatsuzaki!
I completely forgot about the Joe 90 kits! SFZ
