At the last boot sale of the year I picked up this weathered Crescent Mobile Crane.
A lovely simple design.
Just three colours.
Some paint was missing in patches and the rivet holding the crane to the truck was gone.
After some deliberation I decided to repaint the whole vehicle.
Using the Missus' Matt paint pens it covered nicely.
The three basic colours helped a lot. I left the hub caps alone.
I reckon it came out quite well. Do you readers?
Just needs a rivet of sorts now.
That looks brilliant! Well done! Bill
ReplyDeleteCheers mate!
DeleteThat looks perfect. What sort of paint pens did you use ?
ReplyDeleteI'll check the brand name Paul. They give a nice matt finish. I did fve coats.
DeleteGreat save Woodsy - it looks new! Also luv those German smokers!!
ReplyDeleteThanks indeed Ed! Yes, the old Rauchermannchen are allowed out for a puff each Christmas!
DeleteThat is an incredible job! I've never use paint pens - how did you get the finish so smooth? I can imagine all sorts of streaks and lines from me using paint pens, but I see none in your work. You must be some sort of restoration genius?!?! Anyways, a beautiful resurrection of a truly amazing old toy.
ReplyDeleteThanks Zigg! These matt paint pens do a very smooth job. Five coats went on. It dries in minutes too!
