I recently took part in an Art Toy challenge to create a spaceship. There were lots of great entries.

Mine was a mash-up between Star Blazers/Space Battleship Yamato and Doraemon! Bursting with ideas, I also scribbled up the skeleton based Uncovery and Dave Boneman's Space Bod. I didn't make it, but a skull based Pod design was too good to ignore.
I've forced this into the script for my test puppet film, so I'll be able to get all my Stanley Kubrick fixations out of the way up front!
Did you notice the space toy references? There's a scanner (inspired by the Lost in Space Pod) which is 99% Billy Blastoff. -And the claws on the manipulators are actual scans of my vintage Zeroid Zobor hands!
That's cute Looey, but it looks more Halloweeny than Christmasy to me
ReplyDeleteI added the word Christmas Mish. Punning on Christmas Pud. My bad!

Wow, that is going to be stunning as a real, live model! SFZ

DeleteI did Looey, superb! I love the scanner and the gripper hands are exactly the ones I had on my own Zeroid!
DeleteAnd just so Woodsy's awful Puns wouldn't go unchallenged, the name of this bone inspired piece was going to be 2001: A Space Ossuary!
ReplyDeleteYep, and the pilot is Keir Skullea! ha ha
