Dear Moonbase,
I thought that you might be interested to know that the spacemen that you show - in Wotan's C to Shining C - were given away as free gifts with Kellogs Rice Krispies; see:
They were designed by Len Carter, then the Executive Secretary of the British Interplanetary Society (of which I am a Fellow); the ship in the background in the advert above is the BIS Moonship; see:
Oddly enough, instead of using the BIS space suit as a model, Len Carter used a suit drawn by Fred L Wolff for "Worlds in Space" by Martin Caidin:
Hope this is of interest!

I would've bought an awful lot of Rice Crispies to get those astronauts.
ReplyDeleteIt certainly is of interest. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteInteresting read, also about the BIS Moonship. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteThat's great to know Grif, I was aware of the cereal connection, but not the designer! wonderful stuff, thank you Bill
ReplyDeleteTo my shame, I was wondering what the BIS had been up to recently. Reading through their website, I found many fascinating articles all powered by thought, rather than massive funding! I've certainly bookmarked it for future returns to the outer space of the mind!
ReplyDeleteA very different take
