Do you remember Power records from the 1970's?
Here's the Superman single in its cover. Well several really that I got many years ago for my old toy stall. I bought about 10. This is what's left.
I've seen the Planet of the Apes Power record too, which I think is a gatefold maybe.
They covered Batman and Spidey too.
Did you have the power?
I have a Star Trek one.
ReplyDeleteAs none of the original cast do the voices, it's pretty wierd.
Scotty sounds Irish !
I dont think the music or sound effects are authentic either.
An interesting novelty to have though.
Presumably they avoided copyright by being unauthentic. A bit like those Top of the Pops LPs Mish. I bet someone collects nothing but Power records and stuff.
DeleteWe sold tons of those things when I worked at Child World in the 70s. We played them too - it was hilarious hearing these shows being done with another cast, and low-budget music and f/x besides! We thought they were fun trash back then, who knew anything based on a franchise would become collectible? I recall tossing scads of these records in the dumpster at one point - ouch! SFZ
ReplyDeleteGreat memories Zigg. Can't believe they got dumped!
DeleteAny on the internet?
ReplyDeleteWorth a look!
