I'm interested, were your school days the so-called best days of your life?
I personally think the old adage is misconceived. What it really means is that your childhood days were the best days of your life. Schools were just part of it and may not be the best bit at all!
What do you think readers?
I think that is probably right. School was alright (at least when I was a pupil!), but university was more fun. Childhood though was great. Having said that, I liked late teens and even late 20s. It's taken a lot of effort to get to be a grumpy 60 year old! Still working on it.
ReplyDeleteI was fine until I was 8 and left Dingle in Liverpool 8 and got shipped out to a council house in Speke at the edge of the city. From my first day at the new school, I was picked on and it continued, almost relentlessly till I left. So I hated school with a passion. So the best days of my life didnt occur at school, thats for sure!
ReplyDeleteI suppose it's going to be different for everyone. My school life was fine at Primary but Secondary was an odd sandwich of good times and bullying. It was at home where I was truly happy and most of my learning was done in my bedroom from all those fabulous reference books and encyclopedias around in the Sixties.
