I saw this online and realised I'd never seen this ERTL Blade Runner toy Chase Spinner car. Even after countless car boot sale visits I've never even seen one loose. It must be either difficult to spot or quite scarce.
As a design its not one I remember clearly in the film, although the more recent 2049 movie vehicle is much fresher in my mind.
Here's the ERTL Chase Spinner from a better angle seen on Worthpoint.
Is this a die-cast you've got readers?
Did you prefer the first or second film?
I think these were US only release atbthe time of the film, I contacted Ertl directly back in the day and managed to buy a set:

Hey, how good is that! Did you get the 4 models boxed?
DeleteI think they were individually carded. Still got the magazine with the advert on the back too
DeleteSend us a pic of that ad if you like.
DeleteI got a set from forbidden planet in Denmark street shortly after the film came out.
ReplyDeleteIt was the start of their
Film toy merchandise as it had previously been books and comics only.
Was that the first Forbidden Planet Shop Tony?
DeleteYes it was in Denmark street,it had a different name at first I can't remember and then evolved into forbidden planet .They had a small selection of movie merchandise including the blade runner cars and the Kenner die cast star wars play sets with the small die cast figures.Somwere around that area was another shop called Lts above the guitar shops,it sold collectables and comics. Again this was around the early eighties and I managed to get a boxed major matt mason made for the Florida space centre I think, for a tenner also a boxed dinky spv for £20.Those were the days....
DeleteWas that older shop called Dark They Were and Golden Eyed Tony? My older brother went there back in the day and brought me a comic in their shop paper bag, which I recall had a illustration of monsters and beasts on the front! Wish I still had that bag!
DeleteThey were two different shops, I remember visiting both on trips to London.
DeleteLucky you! What did you get Kev?
DeleteOh gosh, we're going back a long way but I think one item was a replica of Spock's starfleet sciences badge, which I sewed onto my jeans!
Deleteha ha, well you are a Physicist! Here's a wiki link to the Dark they Were shop in case you wanna look https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dark_They_Were_and_Golden_Eyed_(bookshop)
DeleteI'd no idea it was so long ago when it closed. Must've been the 70's when I visited. How did that happen?
DeleteThe passage of time I reckon ... if indeed time exists at all!
DeleteI had no idea...
ReplyDeleteYes it was called that woodsy.
