I think I saw this fine snap of the JR21 Thunderbird 3 on Ebay a while back.
A toy I had I had as a kid, we've been apart far too long. The box art is just superb I think too. With prices that would make Alan Tracy run off, I enjoy this and the other JR21 Thunderbirds from a safe distance these days.
Are you lucky enough to own one of these beauties?
Yep, I've got one, bought years ago. I've got most of the Anderson Jr21 toy vehicles.
ReplyDeleteIve got my original one, duffed up and no box. Its the only survivor out of the three I had and a perennial favourite. I bought the Supersize TB3 from the animated series recently, which is a real beauty too.
ReplyDeleteNot sure I had one. It's all a bit fuzzy. From Thunderbirds I know I had the JR21 FAB1 and the Zero X.
ReplyDeleteHaving said that I may have one like I said in the post. Doh!
ReplyDeleteI had TBs 1, 2 and 3, but not 4 or 5.
ReplyDeleteThe last two were battery operated and too expensive.
1 2 and 3 were all you needed for full Tracy action Mish!
DeleteI like TB4 best, Woodsy. Had it very briefly as a kid for a birthday prezzie. The battery operated motor didn't work, so dear old mum recklessly took it upon herself to take it back to the store and exchanged it for Corgi Toys No.64 Forward control jeep and conveyor. Why... I've no idea? I was distraught but my tearful protests were ignored. Mum meant well I guess, but didn't appreciate that a farm toy was absolutely no match for a Thunderbird toy. This birthday memory still haunts me today.
ReplyDeleteThat's terrible Tone! Thunder farming just doesn't quite cut it I agree!
DeleteI had the Lincoln International #103 polythene kit. I remember using parts of it in other play scenes for years afterwards! As I remember it, a nicely produced model!
ReplyDeleteIs Lincoln an Ozzie firm Looey?
DeleteNo, it was bought in W H Smiths the book store, in the 60s (before I moved to Australia in the 70s)
DeleteUPDATE! I just Googled Lincoln and they were actually -gasp! Kiwi! From New Zealand! The following link is a pretty good read. Toltoys, by the way were an Australian toy company that operated into the mid 80s (I think) check out the section on Lincoln's Captain Scarlet toys. The artwork is very heavily based on the Bandai releases!
Wow, what a rabbit hole to fall down so early in the morning!

Wow! New Zealand strikes a fab win for toy making! Lincoln were brilliant. Love that Toltoys link Looey!
DeleteLincoln was founded by Lincoln Laidlaw. Their advertising line was 'Boy Oh Boy, a Lincoln Toy'. A lot of the toys were actually made in Hong Kong.
ReplyDeleteI like that slogan a lot Paul!
DeleteI had the JR21 TB1, TB2, & TB3 when I was a kid, though not all at the same time if I recall rightly. I've now only got two TB2s.
ReplyDeleteDid you get the pod vehicle you were after Kid?
DeleteYes, I bought another TB2, which had the jeep (or land rover or whatever it is). I bought it just for the jeep, but I'll keep the 2nd TB2 as a spare.
DeleteGreat stuff Kid.
