Managed to get this kit recently at a not-silly price. I didn't bother with the toy elements, big wheels, spring loaded missiles etc. I filled the holes where they would've been and changed the profile of the floats slightly and it seems a reasonably faithful replica to me.

thats a lovely build. Along with the SPV, this was always one of the most standout unusual designs in the series. brilliant
ReplyDeleteThanks. Yep, it is a great looking design. Don't think it got used all that much.
ReplyDeleteGreat work Kevin. Looks just like one of the Century 21 models. This kit,and Imai's SPJ, SPC and MSV are pretty accurate. Their Angel aircraft has an odd canopy but is otherwise OK but I've no idea what they were thinking with their SPV !
ReplyDeleteThanks. Yep, I agree about those kits. Shame the SPC has black windows though!
ReplyDeleteExcellent build, Kev.
ReplyDeleteCheers, much appreciated.
ReplyDeleteLooks FAB Kev! Great model and results. The big black skis always reminded me of a tool that carpet fitters used to use to flatten the corners!
ReplyDeleteThanks, yep, I see what you mean!
ReplyDeleteLovely work! I seem to think the Spectrum helicopter only featured in three episodes. Somewhat sad, given it's great design, but better exposure than the poor old MSV which despite it's heavy representation in toys, was only featured in the first episode!
ReplyDeleteThanks. Yep, you could be right there, still, at least the helicopter made it into cereal packets in the 60's!
