I love the artwork on this Anglo gum card from the 1967 Captain Scarlet set. The travel of the SPV and the curve of the road are just wonderful. I like the copter too but don't recognise it. Do you?
Ohhh, Woodsie, how can a simple question be so hard to answer? I've Googled three different ways and I cannot find any info about Anglo Gum card artists!
The poster on the back of the full set of gum cards is by TV series end title card artist Ron Embleton, but we all knew that! However the individual scene artists remain mysterious. I assume they may have been TV 21 comic artists doing a little work on the side, but no direct confirmation or identities provided...
I'm 99% sure Ron's brother, Gerry Embleton did a good few of the cards - certainly looks like his style (compare with post-Ron Stingray strips in TV21.
The helicopter looks very like the Sikorsky S-51, built in Britain by Westland, with a few modifications. I will send you a photo of my Dinky example.
ReplyDeleteNice one Paul.
