I have a soft spot for the Hungarian Holdrakete.
It was one of the first vintage toys I bought as a collector back in the early 1990's. I got mine at a toy fair. I adored the box.
The rocket's hidden uprighting device was a gem, triggered by the spring-loaded nose antenna, which did its stuff if it hit a wall.
Alas I sold mine in the heady Ebaying days of the Noughties.
Here it is in my early collection in the 1990's.
Did you or do you have a Holdrakete?
Good copies are still being made, in China I think. Actually had a plastic version of this when I was a kid.
ReplyDeleteWow, you had the plastic one Andy. Somewhere on the blog is a piccy I think, Looks great!
DeleteI certainly do!
ReplyDeleteI also have a large number of classic vintage 60s tin robots which were collected by my mum's friend and later gifted to me.
Oh, and of course my own 70s to present day collection of anime robots...
-but the Holdracket which I recall buying in the 80s was always a wonderful portrait of the Space Age, forged in tinplate!
I hadn't realised you were such a big robot fan Looey. I don't have any anymore but quite a few books on the subject, which are fun. Glad you have the Holdrakete, a classic!
DeleteI have one Woodsy. I was going to sell mine but haven't gotten around to it yet.
ReplyDeleteI sold mine and regret it Ed!
Deletewelll, I have an original Nomura and a later Chinese version so I'm pretty well set for rockets. Anywho, it's still just sitting around here and I've been busy trying to sell other stuff.
