I had the pleasure of observing a Dungeons and Dragons Club this afternoon. It was a revelation really to see teenagers doing what nerdy teenagers have been doing since the late 70's!
Both boys and girls, all very geeky, were sat around a table with a board in the middle. I couldn't hear everything but what I heard included discussions about elves and spears and citadels.
It reminded me of the opening scene of Stranger Things, that nostalgic postcard to all things Eighties.
Were you ever part of a Dungeons and Dragons group or school club readers?
Yep!
ReplyDeleteStarted in High School, ran games for kids from our church youth group.
Continue to play into the present, mostly online.
Started a D&D club for middle schoolers a while back.
The hobby is thriving.
Sounds great Knobgobbler. Its not something I ever got into but I wish I had when it first started in the 70's. Oh to be young again!
DeleteIt's not too late to start!
DeleteLoads of great RPGs to try... maybe even something set in the Andersonverse or using Project Sword.
I think Wotan and an early contributor The Philosophic Toad once had a go at creating a SWORD RPG about ten years ago. Its on the blog somewhere.
DeleteI studied role playing game design at university. I wrote a couple of scenarios for the Cthulhu Mythos and was part of the development twam for Crooked Dice 'Pulp'

That's a fab website Wote and kudos on being part of the team. The range looks great especially the monsters like the eldritch horror!
