Hi all,
Another of the kit history films from Max's Models on You Tube, this one covers early Soviet plastic aircraft kits, most of which seem to have been modern civil types, with just a few military or WW2 aircraft.

Soviet and Czech model kits are an amazing subgenre of the plastic model industry. I was lucky enough to have found a "penpal" in Czechoslovakia in the 1970s, through some model airplane magazine, and we swapped model kits for a short while. I sent him some Revell, Adams and Renwal missile kits, and he sent me some really cool civilian airliner kits, all from a brand in Czechoslovakia I cannot recall. The kits were crude, but very cool and they built up very nicely. All long gone, I'm afraid. This video brought back some fun memories - thanks!
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed it, but the person to thank is Max. He puts a lot of work in to these videos, and his other productions. The only Czech kit firms I recall are KP and Smer (who re-issued a lot of Heller kits from France). VEB in East Germany did a lot of airliners in 1/100th. They all produced some unusual East European and Russian types that no one else did, at least back in the 1970s and 1980s.
