Hi Woodsie, I was just sitting down to afternoon tea and I flicked through Moonbase to see if there was anything new.
Your post on Woolworths had a lovely link and I downloaded a pic. In less than 30 seconds I had uploaded it to https://playback.fm/colorize-photo
And the algorithms had pinged it back in full colour!
What do you think readers?
Keep on bloggin', Looey
OZ.
I don't know how the algorithms work, has this AI just looked at millions of photos and remembered them all or does it do a Google search every time? I think about all those B&W photos of FAB 1 that have been posted on Moonbase Central, if I fed one of those in, would it automatically come out pink?
ReplyDeleteI tried it with a couple ofb+w school class photos from 68/9 and 69/70. It worked fine on one (even put the right color stripes on my t-shirt) but only seemed to colorise portions of the other (it did have a lot of dark areas maybe that confused things). I shall be trying it on some really old photos to see what happens.
ReplyDeleteFunny, I think the black and white works better, for nostalgia purposes.
ReplyDeleteIs this technique called colourisation? they've tried it with some old TV programmes haven't they?
