I adored stickle bricks as a kid in the Sixties.
I was thrilled when I saw this set on Ebay so I kept the pics.
I was never a Lego fan but as a nipper I recall sticking these bright plastic bricks together like combs.
Dead simple stuff like planes and cars but great bristly fun!
Did you have Stickle Bricks or a variation of it where you grew up?
I remember them at primary school. I was a big lego fan myself. I recall making a Zero X out of it!
ReplyDeleteYou are Paul Travers Kev!
DeleteNo stickle brix for us Toads. I started off with Pennybrix (all I remember is making planes with it up to the mid 70's. There wernt that many pieces, so Im not sure if it was from a set (apart from the 1×,2×,3×,4× blocks I only remember a door) but there was sufficient blocks for 3 or 4 basic planes or one zero x type thing). One xmas I had a Betta Bilda set. No lego or anything else (other than wooden blocks from the dawn of time), my brother got a Meccano set 6 at some stage. I went from the Betta Bilda to model kits, Pyro and Lifelike Hobbies Dinosaurs (still got 4) then the airfix planes etc.
ReplyDeleteNot heard of pennybrix Timmy. Send us a snap of those dinosaurs!
DeleteUnfortunately, yes we did have those
ReplyDeleteha, do I detect a note of disappointment Khus?
DeleteI remember them, but never had them, or wanted them, I'm afraid. The were just too 'babyish' for me. You couldn't make a remotely believable toy with them (too blocky and colourful).
ReplyDeleteMish.
Babyish! Humbug! us Sticklebrickers went on to great things, like sticking stuff in scrapbooks and other stickle stuff!
