A few photos of the Aoshima UFO Moonbase which was previously released as an Imai kit.
A simple kit kit to put together, but anyone wanting an accurate representation of the studio model will be disappointed as the the kit, like many Japanese kits is more about gimmicks than accuracy.
Thank you for the interesting posts. The UFO Moon Base certainly has an impressive array of vehicles, even if not all of them belong on the Moon.
ReplyDeleteThanks Paul. Yes, there's quite a selection of little accessories. I've got the larger Imai Sky 1 which comes with the small Mobile , and the larger Mobile kit which comes with the small Sky1. All the other accessories can be found in other kits too.
DeleteIt's a cool toy.
ReplyDeleteIs there any listed scale for it... or is scale just all over the place between the various vehicles and buldings?
That's an interesting question K.G. The Japanese do like to give the scale of kits but I don't think this is mentioned. I'd take a guess and say the base itself was around 1:144 scale. The vehicles are, as you suggest all over the place.
DeleteAre those two tripod Hoppers based on anything?
ReplyDeleteHi Lewis. The hoppers can be seen briefly in the UFO episode, The Responsibility Seat, parked outside a Soviet Moonbase.
DeleteCould've used something like this in conjunction with the SpaceX Moonbase but appears to be too small. Whaddaya think Scoop?
ReplyDeleteYes, a tad too small for Spacex, Ed.
