Here are shots of my TN toys DC9 airliner. I have had this from a child. It is battery operated, it taxis, stops, opens its door and lowers boarding steps. It then retracts them, closes the door, revs up the engines and zooms off. It still works too!
Departing now,
Wow, really nice. Is it metal or plastic ?
ReplyDeleteThanks, both, top half metal, bottom half plastic. The batteries power lights and a motor but all the complex actions are achieved by gears and levers, the motor simply powers them, no microprocessors involved!
ReplyDeleteIt really is magnificent Kev and the various things it does is amazing! Are you up to taking a little video clip of it in operation?
DeleteThanks, I've got a clip I could try emailing.
ReplyDeleteWonderfull. Not only do you still have it but it works! Too often battery operated toys can be saved for years but then when new batteries are added they no longer function.
ReplyDeleteIt went through a time of not working but when I stripped it down, I found a small piece of fluff fouling one gear and that was all that was stopping it!
ReplyDeleteGood gosh, that is a beautiful thing, and I vaguely recall having a batt-op airliner toy myself in the dim dark past. Terrific nostalgia fix, many thanks!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome. Yep, I'm tremendously fond of this toy, we've been together for half a century!
