Apart from the 14 issues of the Gold Key Star Trek comic book that came out 1974, Perry Rhodan was the other huge influence of my childhood. It ran only for 16 issues in 1975, but that was enough to leave an ever-lasting impact.
Enjoying the thrills of the pulp storyline, I remember staring endlessly at the cross section of the gigantic spherical space ship, wondering what my life would be there. Also the dramatic cover illustrations were a source of deep contemplation.
However, my prized possession was a poster of Atlan, der Arkonidenfurst, obtained by mail order from the publishers. I still have it safely stored away.

A great memory Arto and that Atlan poster sounds like a real personal treasure. I'm not sure how well known Perry Rhodan was or is in the UK.
