I've got one the same, as well as a submarine one. I used to have the diver back in the '60s, though it was blue and not black. Couldn't say if it was by the same manufacturer as the current one.
I'm pretty sure I had one too Kid, a classic low-tech toy. Your sub sounds mega familiar too. It amazes me that stuff like this is still available. I always see classics like this and slinkies and the like in Garden Centres and Museum shops!
The sub is made by the same manufacturer as the diver above, Woodsy. Talking of Slinky, I bought one in Beatties toy shop over 20 years ago, to replace the one my brother bought in Largs in 1969.
Slinky was just class Kid. I loved watching it clamber down the stairs. I sometimes stuffed something in the middle like an Action Man jacket as a way of transporting it down a 'mountain' to basecamp! I ony recently discovered that there's a miniature version of Slinky! For little stairs?
