I was sad to hear the news that TV presenter Keith Chegwin has died. He was just 60.
Cheggers wasn't part of my own Sixties' generation's UK TV but he was a household name in the late 70's and in the 80's when my daughter grew up and millions of her peers will have loved his on-screen antics.
He was one of those famous children's TV presenters, like Chris Tarrant, who's presence just made you feel better. A bundle of fun and bursting with TV talent, I would say he was almost a British national institution in his heyday.
I don't think there's anyone like him now on British TV.
Do you remember him?
RIP Cheggers.
Yeah, I remember him him from Swapshop and other shows. I used to watch Tiswas, but would sometimes turn over to BBC 1 to see what was happening on Noel's show. At least, that's the way I remember it, but perhaps they weren't on at the same time. Thankfully, I missed his nude show, but he always seemed full of joy and it's sad to hear that he's gone at such a young age.
ReplyDeleteSaturday mornings were stuffed with good telly back then just like they were in the late Sixties and Seventies I agree Kid. A lot of talent. I also liked the crazy antics of Timmy Mallett and two long hairy guys who had the catchphrase'We don't do duvets'. No idea what they were on!
