Whilst searching for old space toys on my own blog archive I came across this Blake's 7 Hawk. The picture was supplied by Cory Le Chat some years ago.
I've blogged about it many times before like here:
By Jotastar, its one of four Blakes 7 Cosmic Strikeforce toys, which we know better as the more commonplace Blue Box space vehicles.
Googling them I came across this informative thread which not only pictures all four Jotastar toys [drop box links] but describes them and their possible inclusion in an updated merchandise guide.
The picture of the FALCON confirms once and for all what our own resident Blake's 7 enthusiast Kevin D suggested years ago, that I did indeed own the main body of the toy but never knew it!
Alas, my Falcon body has long since left me!
Whilst I weep into my cold Yorkshire tea here's a shot of my early collection circa 1990 including the car boot silver-grey Falcon red-tipped rocket body, top picture front left.
Do you have any Blake's 7 toy vehicles?
I used to have a really big Blake's 7 collection. There were never many toys. Corgi did 3 different colours of a small diecast Liberator. My favourite toy was a ping pong ball firing gun by Jotastar that was a reasonable replica of the rifle carried by the Federation troopers.
ReplyDeletesorry about the spamming issue Kev. I don't know how to solve it. Its infuriatingly random as well, some of your comments spammed and some not! As regards this post that ping pong ball rifle sounds good. i think we have blogged it. Jotastar obviously had a decent licence to release Blakes 7 toys in the late Seventies. Having read the forum thread about the four ships I wondered if you know 'Mark'. I seem to recall that you were very involved in the original Blakes 7 merchandise guide, which he talks about updating at some point.
DeleteI think I may have had some communication with him at some point. Yep, I wrote the merchandise guide that was in Virgin Books' Blakes7 Programme Guide and the one in the DWB compendium.
