I saw these Kung Fu slippers on Ebay tonight. I was gobsmacked! The memories of me wearing them came flooding back!
I wore my 'Bruce Lee' slippers non-stop for years in the early Seventies. I loved the soft top and the hard plastic soles. They really did put a spring in your Fu's!
I've really enjoyed seeing them again and feeling the excitement I once felt wearing them. So much so I've decided to digress a little for a week and have a Kung Fu fest on the blog starting tomorrow.
I'll look at vintage collectables, comics, celebrities and maybe more.
Hi-Ya!
I used to wear those slippers all the time in the late eighties!
ReplyDeleteThey were so comfy weren't they! We had carpets in my Mum and Dad's house so I never heard them except on the lino in the kitchen. They were quite noisy with those plastic soles. My own house now has quite a few wooden floors so I guess they'd be quite clickety here! i think some styles of those slippers had soft soles too but I never had any.
DeleteI even had an old white judo top I used to wear, must have looked an utter plonker!
ReplyDeleteJudo TOP as Austin Powers might have said. They were very comfy to wear. My Mum made my first Karate 'gi' using a pattern. When I joined a Judo club I got a proper 'gi'. My Mum also made me a Hakama, the Japanese wide trouser skirt of the Samurai. I still have it! So spacious and comfy its untrue!
