Although most of us a familiar with the mighty space ship Zero X as drawn by Michael Noble, in the interests of variety here's some examples of other artists' interpretations as seen in some of the City Magazines publications..
The loose style of Jim Watson.
Captain Black's Zero X returning from Mars as drawn by John M. Burns.
Zero X in the TV Tornado Mysteron strip drawn by Tom Kerr
Catalan artist Ferran Sostres had a short spell drawing Zero X , with some borrowed panels from a previous Mike Noble Zero X strip.
Eric Eden also had a short stint on the strip while Mike Noble took a break.
One of the several TV21 Annual Zero X strips drawn by the distictive Ron Turner.
Bonus extra: Although its not from City Magazines, here's the scan that Kevin dug out featuring Zero X art from a News of the World Captain Scarlet strip drawn by John Cooper.

Interesting. I've got a panel of A Captain Scarlet strip somewhere out of A Sunday supplement from the 90's that had Zero X in, can't remember who drew it.
ReplyDeleteWas it a reprint from City Magazines?
ReplyDeleteI don't really know, but I suspect it was original. I'll try and find it, it's only small.
ReplyDeleteIt's probably from Funday times and drawn by Keith Page (a big Dan Dare fan who drew in the relaunched Eagle and in Spaceship Away)
ReplyDeleteTo be honest I don't really take much notice of modern (1990's!!) original stuff .
Update: Kevin has sent me a scan of the artwork he remembers and it's a Captain Scarlet Sunday Supplement featuring Zero X and drawn by John Cooper, a name familiar to TV21 and Countdown fans.
ReplyDeleteScan to follow.
I find myself thinking of the 1990's as recent too, scary isn't it?
ReplyDeleteHa,ha! You said it Kev!
ReplyDeletebeautiful illustrations all Scoop. Lovely post. The colour Zero X at the top by Mike Noble features as a black and white drawing in one the SWORD text stories I think. Did Frank Bellamy ever have a go at the OX?
