When Project SWORD first kicked off in 1967 Century 21 Toys only had access to the nose-badged T in a Circle Moon Bus. I've spoken about this a lot on the blog and all the evidence, the image from Like Father Like Son being the latest, suggests it.
This original Moon Bus had a T badge on its nose, most likely silver plastic but that's just my guess based on images I've seen. No actual example of this has yet been found and only a few black and white pictures exist.
To help in the search for the "T nose", as I've nicknamed it, I've mocked up this colour picture of what it probably looks like in the flesh. I have no idea if the box is any different to the standard T in a Circle Moon Bus box. It could have their full makers' mark of Tai Hing?
Even earlier examples of the bus may have passenger windows recessed into each side of the toy complete with pictures of passengers, as evidenced by the design registry images stored at the UK National Archives at Kew [oddly enough, only the T nose badge is crossed out and not the passenger windows, suggesting that C21 didn't want the T on their final toy but wanted the windows, which we know didn't happen] * I cannot blog Kew's images unless I pay a hefty fee.
So readers, check your T in a Circle toys for the elusive T nose badge and the even scarcer passenger windows! Somewhere out there one is languishing in a dark corner!
Could the passenger windows have been printed paper stickers stuck on? I had a Hong Kong spaceship with this feature (not the moonbus)
