What do you think about displaying your toys readers? Do you display them for your own pleasure? This inevitably begs the question whether toys should come out of their boxes or not. Displaying or storing boxes separately requires more space and our hobby includes many largeish items.
So what do you reckon readers? Display toys boxed or unboxed?
Deffo boxed, with loose doubles on the side where possible. Mint sealed preferred!
ReplyDeleteOften boxes contain excellent artwork or important information,so they are desirable. If the package is too large for me to display,I collapse it flat and store it in the attic in a vacuum sealed bag.I look for new collectables in window box type packaging because often you can display the complete product with the option of removing the product on occasion.I don't consider myself an extreme collector that must keep everything minty-mint,it's more about keeping my collectables in one room of my house.I will probably utilize other rooms in my house for this purpose in the future, but for now,the question of packaging -or-not varies.
ReplyDeleteI try to only display common, modern or duplicate loose items, IV will destroy most plastics, most compositions and fade all packaging over time, it will soften wax, harden vinyl, help the air tarnish metal and discolour phenolics, adding fine dust - display is the enemy of the collector!

For me it really depends on the quality and artistry of the packaging.
