Continuing with my nostalgic dip into vintage comic strips featuring classic Gerry Anderson series we get to the super sub,Stingray.
I've selected two strips , both illustrated by the legendary Ron Turner, and both taken from Summer Specials..
The first is a four pager with two in full colour taken from the 1965 TV Century 21 Stingray Special.
The second strip is taken from the 1965 TV Century 21 International Extra.
Is it worth asking if anyone would like to see an example of a comic strip featuring Gerry's most successful series next?
superb artwork!
ReplyDeleteGreat to see this, Ron Turner's colour work is great, and his renditions of Stingray very dramatic.
ReplyDeleteAny strip(s) you care to post most welcome!
Apart from the nostalgic aspects I do love the quality art of some these old comic strips. Modern stuff drawn and inked on a computer just doesn't cut it for me. I suppose it started with Eagle comic and the Dan Dare strip allowing good artists to shine and TV 21 continued the trend . I'm glad that some publishers have seen fit to create some good quality hardback compilations of some of these strips giving people who don't have original stuff a chance to enjoy them.
ReplyDeleteMore in the pipeline, folks.
