Just when you think you've seen it all. When you feel confident that every incarnation of SWORD toys has been seen and recorded and you can sit back and blog about how your collection is nearly complete, something new appears. This time, you need to look hard, really hard to actually see the newest arrivals to the SWORD fleet as they are so diminuitive!
At this point, we must pause - because theres little more to know beyond the obvious - both are soft plastic of the variety used in cereal premiums. Theres no visible markings on each, apart from a english '14' and what appears to be an '11' on the underside of TF3 and TF2 respectively.
Its hard to make out much detail on the cream coloured TF2, but the TF3 has rivets and a 'hatch' like emblem on the nose. Apart from these cosmetic differences and a tiny variation in the wing layout compared to its big brother on the TF2, its plain to see these are based on the original Sword Task Force. Once more, we're left with more questions than answers, primarily - wheres T1 ?
Think I've died and gone to SWORD heaven! My gob is well and truly smacked! Honey I shrunk the Sword!
ReplyDeleteThose roman numerals, XIV [?] and II, are intriguing. Thay can't refer to the Century 21 model numbers as there aren't any. Maybe it refers to the order they appear in the Official Manual but even missing out the Moonbase the TF's come out as 14,15 and 16 [TF1,2 and 3 respectively]. Sort of similar with XIV [14] but the II doesn't fit. Maybe after all that the most logical numbering would be 1,2 and 3 as in TF 1,2, and 3. But that doesn't work either except for the II. What does anyone else think?
ReplyDeleteWow, love the little'uns!
ReplyDeleteIf not Cereal; bubble-gum? Roman numerals are probably just stock/item numbers? Fascinating things.
ReplyDelete'Glerl'...Stone-like organisms that eat each other until they get to the size of a small family car, at which point they explode violently, showering the area in gravelly particles. They then fast for two days while heading away from the crater on a direct bearing from where they fell, keeping familial cannibalism to a minimum!
just to clarify - they arent roman numerals as such, my mistake - theyre written '14' and '11' in english, not kanji or chinese characters.
