MOONBASE CENTRAL COMMANDER WOODS FOUND!
Following yesterdays news that the Moonbase Communications module, the nerve centre of the facility, was seen to be damaged and deserted, fears rose for the safety of Commander Woods. Early images from a remote Prospector which was first on the scene of the devastation, showed a badly damaged base unit with no visible signs of life.
As the main rescue fleet arrived on scene, one of the rescue personnel spotted tracks leading away from the area to the edge of the lunar sea. Some five miles distant from Moonbase, a small Moon Bus was spotted and as the Scramble Bug approached, a faint distress beacon was detected. Shortly after, a lone figure appeared on the edge of a rill and Commander Woods was found alive and well!
Suffering exhaustion and slight hypothermia after spending almost a week in the desolation, Commander Woods explained that the initial solar flare had temporarily knocked out sensors and local communications. It was only after the flare had subsided that the real threat from Codename Damocles became apparent. Although the Thor Missile strike appeared to have averted the imminent threat, the debris cloud being carried along in the wake of the asteroid was not deflected and it was only spotted hours before it impacted on the base and surrounding area. Luckily, Commander Woods was away from the base on a reconaissance mission and was able to get to a safe distance as the meteorites showered the base.
Commander Woods is currently under medical supervision and repair work to bring Moonbase Central back online is underway. A new communications module is en route from Deimos Station and should be online within 48 hours. Commander Woods says he is keen to get back to work asap. All of Mars Base wish him well!
When found, was Commander Woods delirious, possibly singing "Waka Waka" in Dutch?
ReplyDeleteI hope his space dog was ok too!
ReplyDeleteShould have known Wotan...Woodsy with access to a beloved Moonbus...is there anything in the known Universe that could defeat that combo?
