A LOOK AT CROMFORD 2023 (PART 5) STRANGER GHOST BUSTS

 Here's a few photos I took of some of the 3D models created by digital sculptor, Leavon Archer, who trades under the name Spare Oom Studio.

Leavon brought along a couple of impressive sculps based on designs from the Netflix series, Stranger Things..

This is a lifesize bust  of 'Vecna, the fearsome entity that appeared in the fourth season.

This is a lifesize bust of the Demogorgon, the predatory creature that  first appeared in the first season.

Leavon attended the Cromford event in full cosplay mode dressed as Peter Venkman from Ghost Busters, complete with Proton Back Pack, Ecto Goggles, and a Ghost Trap!

FOLDEE ROLDEE

Another little oddity I loved as a kid was a Foldee like this one. They were small folded cards featuring super heroes and villains, I suppose like a tiny comic with three pages! You could refold them to create new comical faces, a bit like folding the back page of MAD comics to create a crazy scene.

Not seen one in the flesh for years. You?

A LOOK AT CROMFORD 2023 (PART 4) SPACE:1999

 Here's one or two items relating to Space:1999 on show at Cromford,

This beautifully detailed 44" Eagle  with spine booster was scratch- built by Rab Johnstone.

The Eagle was surrounded by some various  well made UNCL resin kits .

Here's a trio of photos showing the original prop of the Superswift Pilot Ship from the episode, Bringers of Wonder.

Here's an original medical panel used in the series, and remarkably the electronics still work and lights up after over 40 years.

Have You Read ALIEN?

I've just finished reading The Bone Collector by Jeffrey Deever. Maybe like me, you first saw the movie with Denzel Washington. He plays a bed-ridden forensics guru who solves a serial killer spree in the old parts of New York City.

 I really enjoyed noting the differences between book and film, especially the penultimate scene in his room when the killer turns up.

Angelina Jolie is Denzel's character's able assistant, Officer Sachs, described as a Portable, which must be American for Uniform.

The movie adds some happy ever after at the end too as we all like a nice outcome on film.

Have you seen the film?

The book classification inside is film tie-in, but I'm pretty sure the book came first. The movie's based on Deever's novel.

Not so with Star Wars I don't think? I recall reading the paperback after seeing the film and enjoying spotting all the differences between the two, the film having imprinted itself on my brain.

Cosmo Toys Swivel Car Set

This is an unusual toy. I may have blogged it but its still a scarce plaything. Its the Swivel Car by Cosmo Toys of Hong Kong seen on line via Facebook [which I'm not on].

I've not heard of Cosmo Toys but the toy is right up our alley. The vehicle and track recall the famed Lost in Space Switch N Go set to me. What do you think?

More Light Fantastic

 Following on from Kevins Stardrive scratchbuild we featured recently, from the Blakes 7 series, here Kevin has put together the gizmo that measures the power of the stardive itself and gives an indicationnof porentual speed. Kev says he couldn't match 1980 BBC special effects, so added some lights instead!
