UNICORNS AND POO IN NEW ZEALAND

Hello Woodsy,

Further to the Unicorn post yesterday here are some NZ examples.

All over South Island we saw roadside signs for Horse Poo, far more direct than the UK Horse Manure.

The dog food if dry, I would have brought a suitcase full back to the US, instead I have these pictures.

The unicorn toys were sold at a Butterfly/Zoo Park. They had more fantasy exhibits than animals, must be what the customers want?

OOZE-IT: PLUG MY SLIME UP!

Brian's Krusher plug got me thinking about another plugged toy, the elusive Ooze-It, which I've discussed with Arto before a few years back.

Rather than air, Ooze-It was filled with red goop, which would ooze out of various head orifices, if unplugged, when the green figure was firmly squeezed!

The green guy is clearly part of the slime craze, which continues to this day. 

There's a description of the uber-rare Ooze-It on Stretch Armstrong World as he's classed as a distant cousin of the Stretch family. 

Sadly Krusher isn't in the index. Too much hot air I expect. You need syrup or slime to get in.

KRUSHER'S EQUINOX BOX

You know me. I see monster clones everywhere.

Brian's 79' Krusher  - above - got me thinking about Ymir as its inspiration. You know, this big fella below that destroys the Colosseum in 20 Millions to Earth released in 1957.

But now I'm thinking the monster was maybe inspired the later beast in the 1971 movie Equinox, especially when you compare the artwork - this Super 8 film box for instance - to the Krusher box art above from 1979.

The two raised fists between the lettering? Coincidence?

What do you think readers?

Should I just go to a dark room and drink beer instead?

GEEK SALAD POOP

I've noticed recently the rise of the unicorn.

Unicorns appear to be everywhere!

Its clearly a new craze and it came home on Saturday when my Grandson sprinkled sugar unicorns onto a cake we'd baked with his Mum. It was called Unicorn Confetti!

But its the mixing of unicorns and excreta that had me staring in wonder. In a Smyths toy catalogue I saw that kids can buy Unicorn poop sets. Yep. Poop!

It can be shaped and sprinkled! 

This has to be the new baseline. Toy poo that can be jazzed up! For all I know it can be eaten! I don't know because I imagined a dreadful version of Action Man and had to stop reading!

Continuing this look at the popularity of waste materials I have come to realise that what I called wee in my youth has now been firmly supplanted by pee.

As far as I recall saying pee was swearing when I was a kid. As was fart [for which we said buff or trump]. These words now appear to be the accepted currency among kids and adults.  is this the normal deflation of language readers or a sign of the so-called dumbing down sweeping the known world?

So. Unicorns. Poo. Pee. Its all here on Moonbase!

MARUI SPACEBIRD AND THE SPACE CAR X-20: DOUBLE DECKERS

There's something very Gerry Anderson about this Japanese toy.

I saved the pics from Yahoo Japan.

I think its the blue plastic that does it - it recalls the Century 21 Zero-X and the Bandai Skyship 1.

I have the name for this incomplete toy down as the Marui Spacebird but that maybe wrong.

Does anyone know much about it? Pics?

The whole multi-decked look reminds me of another toy I've been drooling over for 20+ years when I first saw it on Mark Bergin toys on his old site [his new sales site is quite gorgeous!].

What make is it? Can you make out the model number along the bottom rill?

ACTION MAN SCALE CHAIRS AND OTHER SEATS FROM LEWIS P.

our Japanese Bookstore Kinokuniya has had some fairly high end model chairs in Action Man scale!

I couldn't find any on the website to share with you, but here's an exhibition with a similar theme..

I do like the wooden crates with shredded wood inside! I can see a Rennie Mackintosh, but my beloved Eames chair is not visible (my love affair with that chair started after I had to build a 1/20 scale version, for the villian's lair in Mission:Impossible 2!) 

I now have a bootleg reproduction in my home cinema and I love kicking back in it and watching stuff!

MYSTERY SPACESHIP ON THE IMPOSSIBLE WORLD

Taking a detour from Action Man covers for a day here's another old Curtis Books cover of interest. Maybe!

The Impossible World.

It shows a silver spaceship of sorts bristling with arrays and solar panels.

Knowing that Curtis liked to photograph toys and models for their covers I was wondering if this was a model.

Does anyone know?
