SPACE DEFENDERS: THE ULTIMATE CLIMBING MACHINE

I saw this on the Spanish Todocollecion site.

Space Defenders.

Looks like the brand is ES.

It strikes me as being a relative of the monster rigs of the 90's from Galoob and the like but maybe also the more interest Explorer 12 range we've covered before.

Has anyone got a Space Defender?

There's Defenders of the Earth, Voltron, Ninja Turtles, Secret Wars. You name it they've got it .... boxed!

I've had to watch it with the sound off so I didn't catch where it was.

Have you got a vintage toy shop nearby?

Attached a couple of piccies of the Defenders of the Earth Garax figure. I am not too familiar with the lore of the animated series that it is based on, but Wikipedia says he's an ice robot and the leader of Ming the Merciless' robot army.

The Garax figure measures 12,5 cm and comes with an interesting red weapon attaching to his right arm. The figure is made of hard plastic, except for the head which is made of soft vinyl. His face looks like it inspired Hannibal Lecter's muzzle, as seen in the Silence of the Lambs. On his abdomen he carries a picture of his master, Ming the Merciless.

On the back, there is a black knob which brings one arm up and another down at the same time. As with all the figures in the series, there is a marking © KFE/KFS on his back, referring to King Features Syndicate whose characters all the DotE figures are based on.

For me Garax is one of the most fascinating action figures I've come across.

TENTH BLOGGIVERSARY SECRET AGENT FILE 1: MISS JONES ADAMANT: LADY PENELOPE'S PADUAN

I noticed this unusual secret agent doll on Ebay.

Adam Adamant's Miss Jones by Laurie Toys released in 1967 and 11 inches tall.

The 1966/67 BBC TV series Adam Adamant Lives starred Gerald Harper in the title role and Juliet Harmer as his side-kick Georgina Jones.

I don't recall the series but it reads like a sort of British Captain America with the titular hero frozen in time and thawed out to fight cads and bounders.

The doll and box must be one special addition to a TV special agent collection. I've certainly never seen one. This particular Miss Jones is on Ebay and costs's a King's ransom.

I can see the boots but not the change of outfit unless the chequered item with the boots [which looks like a bag] is the change of clothes, which is presumably the 'mini skirt' advertised on the front.

The picture on the rear of the box is what the doll is wearing so that can't be the change of outfit. Its a confusing box rear.

The side panels especially the small circular motifs also recall similar on the Fairylite Lady Penelope's box sides, the rarer box described on Thunderbirdsvintagetoys [see below]

The whole concept and look of Laurie Toy's Miss Jones recalls the look and feel of the much better known Lady Penelope by Fairylite. I had the Parker figure when I was a kid.

Reblogging something from 2 years back, reader and fellow collector Paul Vreede found the trademark registration for Project S.W.O.R.D for CANADA no less!

The webpage Paul found is here and having checked their terms and conditions I feel safe in reproducing it here for posterity. Enjoy again!

Since seeing it I've been perplexed by the trademark's renewal in 1984. Further research could be done on this. Alas I haven't got round to it yet!

Its still great info though!
