DO YOU GO TO VINTAGE TOY SHOPS WHEN YOUR'E ON HOLIDAY?

Did you or do you track down vintage toy shops when your'e on holiday readers?

I must say by best treasure trove was in an old shop in Rethymnon on the island of Crete in Greece during the 1990's. It was old space toy heaven!

How about you readers? Holiday vintage toy hunts?

APOLLO SATURN ANYONE?

I've often wondered how many other toys were named APOLLO SATURN besides the big plastic rocket in the Project SWORD range by Century 21 Toys.

Here's a tinplate and plastic version I saw on the excellent Alphadrome site.

Do you know of any other toys called Apollo Saturn readers? Have you got any?

TAXI AND POLICIA LUNAR SPACE TOYS

Jyesa of Spain appear to have released at least two Lunar space toys, Taxi Lunar and Policia Lunar. Here they are. If you know if any more do let me know!

I love the side view of the box with the happy kid and his two Taxi Lunar in the sand!

GRUMMAN ANT IN LONG ISLAND

I love this old signed pic of the Grumman MOLAB over at MemReg.

Project SWORD fans will recognise the general shape of this MOLAB as the ANT featured in the project SWORD Annual 1968.

The real thing hangs in the Red Planet Cafe of the Cradle of Aviation Museum, Mitchel Field, Long Island, USA. Get yourself down there if you live nearby and tell us what its like!

SHOCK ROCK 5: B-52's - LAVA

OK, its not really shock rock but the B-52's are kitschy enough to have staggered straight from set of Bride of Frankenstein!

Lava is from their eponymous debut album, which contained other twitchy classics like the Farfisa-pocked Rock Lobster and Planet Claire.

TOYS OF SPAIN 1971: FIREBALL XL5 RIFLE

This is an interesting old toy catalogue from Spain 1971.

Its listed on Todocoleccion. It features a Jyesa Capitan Marte rifle, - left page in the middle - a toy we know as the Fireball XL5 Rifle, which I've blogged about before.

SHOCK ROCK 4: SCREAMIN' LORD SUTCH - DRACULA'S DAUGHTER

Old single from erstwhile political force Lord Sutch, yes he of the Monster Mad Raving Loony Party.

When the Screamin' Lord's estate was sold off I was lucky enough to get hold of one his own Famous Monsters!
