I used to enjoy collecting Fisher Price Adventure people. I've blogged about the range before. At one time they were common fair at UK Car Boot Sales.
However, in all my booting I never came across anything like these Adventure People - Star Wars crossovers! Given the global success of Star Wars it was inevitable that virtually every other minor space line would be unscrupulously morphed with it like this at some point!
Called HOMBRE ESPACIAL they hail from Argentina and were made by PPL. Sought after in their own region, you can read about the whole range here in this fascinating online article by John J. Alvarez.
When did you first see Star Wars readers? I don't think I saw it in 1977. I was 16 and preoccupied by a death in the family to have really noticed what was on at the flicks, not even Star Wars.
Shame really. I would have liked to have seen it at the time as it was basically for my generation.
It was years later when I first saw it and quickly caught up with the two subsequent movies.
When the second trilogy was out I remember queuing for quite some time to see the Phantom Menace at Doncaster Dome when it opened. I still have the ticket stub somewhere.
So did you see Star Wars in '77 readers? If not then when and where did it happen?
As it's Star Wars day today, here's a photo of the amiable Dave Prowse, who towered over a rather awe struck Yours Truly. The photo was taken by my mate, Andy Kerr at a Cult TV festival at Hemsby around ten years ago.
In spite of his cult Star Wars status, especially with UK fans, Dave's favourite role was as the Green Cross Code Man, the costumed superhero promoting road safety.
The veil is breached. Japan is infiltrated by agents of the organization S.W.O.R.D., a fighting force operating outside the protection of the United States and her allies. Their mission: Determine if the Japanese are developing banned robotic bio-technology, forbidden due to its threat to humankind.
In the battle between machine and man, humanity stands to suffer the most.
Prompted by the recent blog post, I trawled my old photos to see if I had one of the old stereogram or music centre This was the best I could find, it is the stereogram and I think the photo was late 60's or early 70's (we moved into that house in 1968). Couldn't find the music centre but it was a 'Ferguson Studio 50D', you can still see them online in all their smoked plastic glory!
Sorry the photo is so poor (I doubt it is useable) it is just part of an image from an old 126 camera, I just thought you'd be interested.
Take care,
Kevin D

Hi Woodsy,
Just caught up with the blog and really enjoyed the article and great pictures featuring Kevin and Rob's vintage record players.
Inspired, I ventured into the Attic of K to search for my original basic Steepletone, which came from dear old mum's mail order catalogue.
I found it and also unearthed a few of my favourite records, most of which I'm sure I got from Woolies?
Pix attached - If it isn't to late, you're welcome to add them to the article if you wish.
