BLAST OFF TO ANDERCON

Well, it's T minus a few hours to go before the organisers of Andercon open their doors, so it's time to bring out Scoop's  Mini shuttle from it's hanger,

All systems have been checked, nuclear fuel, oil and water, plus it had a visit to the rocket wash.

After being raised onto the launch pad, final checks are made. Have we got the tickets with us?

The Gantry arms swing back as the countdown begins. There is an air of nervousness about the cockpit - will the hotel sell Guinness?

AMERICAN GOLDEN ASTRONAUT ADVERTISEMENTS

I've just been looking at these old American catalogue adverts I have in my archive of Golden Astronaut. The above one, which I believe is from 1969, features what appears to be a light coloured Tri-ang SpaceX Forklift 7, when it clearly states in the Launch Site Set that the model is the Lift Loader.

Below we have another advert for the US toy line but this time the dark blue Liftloader. I think the same case can be made for Tractor T5 too. Maybe even the MEV2 but the names on the toys are hard to read.

Is this just a timing issue where Multiple only had Tri-ang toys to hand at the start?

Its interesting to note that the colour advert includes the blue version of the Nuclear Pulse and the yellow version of Space Patrol 1. Where these available outside of America? Indeed was Golden Astronaut available in the same markets as Tri-ang SpaceX?

Sir Christopher Lee 1922 - 2015

One of the film industry's most charismatic and iconic figures has passed away, age 93. Veteran of Hammer films, Star Wars and LOTR, Lee was an outstanding actor and a fascinating character. Its a great loss after a long and distinguished film and acting career.

Sad news of the passing of screen star Christopher Lee who has died at the age of 93.

Our sympathies to his family

I thought my son, Danny summed him up perfectly on a post on Facebook.

"Sad news about the passing of Christopher Lee but let's be honest if anyone lived life to the fullest it was Mr Lee. Still in the biggest films, as well as making heavy metal albums into his ninties.

The rest of us can only hope to grab life as hard as he did.

He deserves a rest. "
