Despite the series concentrating on fulfilling a seemingly insatiable nation's taste for THUNDERBIRDS in any form, those responsible for the Mini-Albums still strove to offer consumers something different. Now showing the base of operations and distribution for the company as PYE Records offices in ATV House London, MA116 GREAT THEMES FROM THUNDERBIRDS gave children the chance to own a soundtrack album of their own featuring themes and incidental music from the show.
This release also took on the supporting moniker of ' A Gerry Anderson Concept' a label which continued to appear on the covers of THUNDERBIRDS Mini-Albums until MA121 DAY OF DISASTER. This cover displayed the famous 'arrow piercing circles' logo seen with the advent of the THUNDERBIRDS ARE GO movie in December 1966 and fully reinforced in the viewers' collective consciousness with CAPTAIN SCARLET AND THE MYSTERONS in September 1967.
The reverse of the sleeve for DAY OF DISASTER also showed another change of locale for Century 21 records when operations moved back to May's Court adjacent to The London Coliseum in Century 21 House. Despite this prestigious address and location much of this change and movement both geographically and within the Century 21 organisation created a sense of unease amongst many. Alan Fennell commented years later that he felt the team was beginning to fall apart with outside powers flexing their business muscles on Gerry and Sylvia.
Pye Records chief Louis Benjamin, a close associate of Lew Grade, joined the Century 21 board bringing with him fresh ideas too. Before long yet another move to offices in the nation's newspaper hub Fleet Street would further dishearten Alan and other members of the Century 21 team as Gerry and Sylvia began also to turn their attentions toward the cinema screen and live-action productions.
