Well Swordheads, the end of the Summer of Sword is nigh. I'm running out of SOLO comic strips and a bit of steam as well. One more week to go and what better way to start the Grand Finale than a totally swordtastic competition. Yes Swordheads this is the one you've been waiting for and the First Prize is awesome: a signed copy of Century 21 modelmaker Alan Shubrook's amazing book CENTURY 21 FX UNSEEN UNTOLD pictured above. The book is stuffed full of Alan's own photographs taken during his years at Century 21 working with the great Derek Meddings and team. Many of the photographs had never been seen before until this book was published a few years ago. Alan has donated this prize to the blog and will include a personal message to the winner along with his autograph! Not only that but Alan is judging the competition too! Cool or what! Here's a taster photo from Alan's superb book.
So what do you have to do? Well you'll need to get your creative heads on and basically come up with a NEW piece of ART based on PROJECT SWORD/SPACEX. Your artwork can be either a painting, a drawing, a model/diorama, a computer-generated model or image, a photograph or sculpture. You can use any materials you want as long as the finished product can be DIGITALLY PHOTOGRAPHED or SCANNED. Your work MUST be clearly ORIGINAL and obviously connected to SWORD and/or SPACEX toys.
IT WILL BE THIS PHOTO OR SCAN THAT YOU SEND ME THAT ALAN WILL JUDGE!
As for timescale, you have a while to get artistic! The deadline for ALL submissions by email will be Midnight 31st August [British Summer Time]. I will then forward submissions to Alan for judging as soon as is feasible for him subject to his commitments. At present there is a single FIRST PRIZE for an outright winner and Alan's decision will be final.
So sharpen those pencils, mix that Das Pronto, squeeze those oils and get cracking with your masterpeice! You don't have to be ultra-talented in any artistic field to enter, just give it a whirl. All entries will be displayed on the blog later in the year. Go for it!
PS. You can ask me any questions you want before the deadline if anything is unclear.
Cool, I'm up for that!
