Space General

I was thinking what the next well-known general space toy range would have been after SpaceX ca.1970? Nothing film related, just general space designs. I'm thinking Multimac maybe? Seems a bit late. What do you think?

Would MICRONAUTS count here? Late 70's, popular but non-film related, general sci-fi/space. The next non-film generated space line toy that I can think of would be mid to late 80's STARCOM toys.

after spacex, there was a definite lull for me until the advent of star wars in 77, then the japanese robot invasion started and i got into Micronauts too! Starcom came a bit late for me and was always hellishly expensive. Stracom is a modern day SWORD fleet though, expect a piece on Starcom soon..

Yep, after 1970 (the moon landing and all that), SF really died down until Star Wars hit. At least here in the US. For an SF nut like me, it was almost like suffering a withdrawal! I scoured the toy and hobby shops for new SF kits and toys, and nothing to speak of.

The next big push from Japan was about the same time as the Star Wars phenomenon, when the Shogun Warriors and the Bullmark die-cast vehicles were imported, a welcome event to us SF guys.

But 1965-1970 was the golden age wasn't it?
