I like this Die-cast set by Orli.
Sherlock Holmes!
Four cars in all.
There's a Wacky Races vibe going on to me.
Zowees even!
Not a set I know but I like them.
Do you readers?

Noticing the RAI Italian TV station name on the box, a quick Google identifies the range as coming from a 1980s Italian/Japanese cartoon series called Sherlock Hound.
ReplyDeleteNot one I've seen myself.
That is a great set. I remember reading an article in Diecast Collector, by Mike Pigott, on them. The series of four models is credited to ESCI of Italy, using the name CB Toys. The models were based on a 1980s Italian-Japanese cartoon series, in which all the characters are dogs. In America the series was known as Sherlock Hound.

According to the article, Sherlock Hound is driving the green car; Doctor Watson the orange car; a rather young Mrs Hudson is driving the blue car (same casting as the Holmes car); while the evil Moriarty is driving a large red steam vehicle.
I have never seen these models in the flesh, or the cartoon.
These sure looked like they were based on a Japanese cartoon, and our own Sherlock Holmes, Paul Adams, of course has solved the mystery! Some of the coolest die-casts I've seen in years! SFZ
ReplyDeleteinteresting! those are a new one on me.
ReplyDeleteSherlock Holmes being my fave from way back, this toy line has the vibes!
ReplyDelete...and as a big anime fan, I can't resist pointing out the original TV series these toys are based upon, was directed by Hayao Miyazaki ("The Japanese Walt Disney")
