 Some recent acquisitions include this Red Baron model I picked up at a boot sale. 

Rough and ready with fading chroming, the front wheels are missing and the Helmet's spike gone, otherwise it sort of looks the part.

No idea of it's age or make. The original Revell kit was reissued a few times.

It reminds me of a Scramble Bug.

Space Police is it's name.

Although unrelated I seem to recall that being the working title of what became Gerry Anderson's Space Precinct. Is that right?

I've no idea what this is. It's got Kleeware or Renewal vibes with all that coloured plastic. 

But there's a metal base.

Mattel's Fembot: Spectra

Spectra!

I don't think I've ever seen a robot doll like this before.

Lacy, spacy, out of this world, it reads on the box.

She's like a female Micronaut or Cyborg.

There's five of them too. 

It's Mattel branded but I have a feeling Spectra was more common in mainland Europe. Is that right? 

What is Rogun?

Do you like Eggbread?

 I recently overheard someone talking about eggs in a basket - or even a blanket, which if I'm right is toast with a hole in where a fried egg goes. The bread might even be fried rather than toasted.

It reminded me of how much I loved egg bread as a kid. This was white bread dipped into a scrambled egg mix and lightly fried. Totally delicious, it's also known as french toast and no doubt has many different names. What is it called where you are?

Egg bread for me was always a savoury, something that you might even season with salt and pepper, but for my Missus, who grew up elsewhere, it was sugared and was a sweet.

What do you do with eggs and bread readers?

Here's a few pics of the Happy Hippos Star Wars crew from 2002. 

To the best of my knowledge there were 10 figures, the Landspeeder, and a 150pc puzzle. Each of the figures has a nice insert with a short storyline of the character, but unfortunately, I only have five of the ten inserts.

 I haven't yet started taking photos of my Burger King 'Revenge of The Sith' stuff.

The Countdown has Started!

 

This is the US Saturn 5 plastic toy model released by Countdown circa 1969.

At first glance you could mistake it for the Century 21 Toys Cape Kennedy toy.

I understand that the Countdown model was available at Cape Kennedy itself.

Does anyone have one?

Humber Land

 The big river running to our coast is the Humber.

One of Britain's biggest, its a vast dark vein of water, bristling with turbines, draining Yorkshire into the cold forbidding North Sea, which separates old Blighty from the European Continent.

I love the Humber and enjoy time spent on it.

O Ráio Laser: The Rays in Spain

I love the box art on this Estrela made board game, o raio Laser, which I guess means Laser Beam.

The game itself looks pretty basic but the art is where it's happening. A space jet, a Gemini and a flower pot laser canon.

My Missing Hong Kong Novelties: Your Help Needed

 Like many of you I have a few collections on the go. Completing them is always the tricky part. There's always a stubborn rump of items, which evade capture.

Such is the case with my collection of 1960's plastic friction Hong Kong novelties.

I'm missing five and I wondered if you had any of them by chance? 

Boxes aren't essential, loose examples are fine, even ones in bits. Equally should you see an inexpensive one at a sale or toy fair it would be great to hear from you.

I can also trade vintage toys too.

Kim Space Flyer

I like this, seen on auction. Made in England by Kim Toys, a brand new to me, the Space Flyer. The blurb mentions a catapult, which may be missing.

The astronaut is fabulous. With the bell jar helmet and stylized body it's straight from the atomic age.

There's two other great looking vehicles in the card art too.

More Cave Finds: The Hoard Has Yielded More Unexpected Finds

I've been out in The Cave the past couple of weeks trying to make sense of the mayhem out there!

 It has yielded several surprises, not the least of which was finally getting together the Echo Car, Moguras, and Vanguard that was featured on Moonbase just last week.

Well guess what? An additional unbuilt Moguras and Vanguard were found lurking in a tote bin of LP toys! Stoked I am 🙂

Remembering Frank: Frank Frazetta Paintings

Hi,

As artist Frank Frazetta (1928-2010) has come up a number of times on Moonbase Central, I thought these two Oil Paint By Number Sets would be of interest. Both are on Black Velvet.

The Fantastic Art of Frank Frazetta sets included ‘A beautiful 12 x 16 Velvet painting panel – twenty oil colors – artist’s brush – and complete instructions’. There were two different sets – 1821 Death Dealer (the original was painted in 1973), a mounted figure with an axe; and 1822 Silver Warrior (painted 1972), which included a sled team of Polar Bears.

The sets were made by Craft House Corporation, of Toledo, Ohio, in the USA, copyright date 1978. They were recommended ‘For ages 8 to adult’.

In very tiny lettering it does say ‘Frame Not Included’. There are very few sales listings for these sets.
