This Italian space toy looks so familiar. What is it I'm thinking of? Space Precinct?

Anyone got this toy?

And the sticker at the top left says Kidco! Are they the importers?

A Night Car Named Giodi

 

I like the design of this Italian spaceship, the phosphorescent night car by Giodi. 

The big bell end exhaust on the card art looks great but there's something on the card art roof missing from the toy.  Strange.

This craft recalls something else but I'm unsure what. What do you think readers?

The Men from Planet X

There's something poignant about this cover art. I like the way the alien has its eyes half-closed looking down, perhaps lost in thought. The few strokes to create the spaceship have been done well too and I think it looks great.

The alien is clearly influenced by the Man from Planet X movie poster art ( a film I've yet to see. Have you seen it?)

This is one of many of these posters for the film but I'll be honest, I prefer the Spanish rendition above.

The great Mel Birnkrant took his spark from the same movie for his own Man from Pluto, Electron+, one of the fabulous Colourforms Outerspacemen, which I had as a kid circa 1967..

Those Colorforms backing cards where a thing of beauty, perhaps the best backing cards of all time I would say!

Still, there's always room for more Planet X Men.

ATOM SUB 7-11

This is a a great looking Atom Sub 7-11; it has a real Gerry Anderson vibe to it.

I think its Italian. It's titled a Sottomarino A Molla. This is the only image I could find, this one on an odd auction site called Catawiki [I thought Catawiki was an encyclopedia site].

Do you like this Atom Sub? Any more info?

Its Charly Duty on the Moon Alright!

I saw this on Ebay Italy. I've blogged it before many years ago and I was fascinated back then, just like now. Space Operation Charly Duty, the Italian Billy Blastoff by Co-Ma.

Despite its obvious Billy Blastoff chops I do think Co-Ma managed to imbue its set with their own style and pazazz. There's some neat green Selenites too.

What do you think?

By the way, I looked up the name Charlie Duty: this was the surprising response! Any job or task that is deemed to be extremely undesirable Usually involves messy occupational duties(cleaning toilets in particular)! Blimey!

ITALIAN SAUCER

Being a long-standing super fan of T in a Circle toys, I was pleased to see this UFO online.

Its a gorgeous Sixties toy saucer.

Interestingly this one has a GIGI sticker on it as this one was marketed in Italy

Is it a toy you like readers?

I bet it made a great Christmas present back in the day!

I liked this Mattel Giochi board game when I saw it on an old sale. I kept the pic 'cos I liked the futuristic box art. Does anyone recognise the style?

is that a small Booster Rocket top left? 

I wonder if this game was available outside Italy too?

 I came across this Italian film poster for Thunderbirds Are Go [1966] online the other day.

I was expecting the Zero-X but there's a strange looking space plane in there.

Anyone know what that is?

THE THREE TARHEEL-STYLE BOXES OF THE PROJECT SWORD MOON RANGER

These are the three different Tarheel-style Moon Ranger boxes.

The differences are not huge.

All these pictures are from old auctions.

Here's the US box with the small red globe within the black curving capital T. It also says Project SWORD.

 Here's the second type of US box with the less curved T inscribed with the name Tarheel. The T is also held by two illustrated kids. Interestingly any reference to Project SWORD was removed from the box and the red arrowhead decal on the photo of the toy.

The third style of box is this one for the Italian market. |There is no reference to Tarheel and the upper portion of the title panel has been blacked out as is the case along the sides too. Interestingly the word SWORD does appear on red arrowhead decal on the Ranger in the photo, as it does on the toy itself.

An Italian import decal is virtually always stuck onto these boxes as seen here top right. Click on the labels below for more info.

GULLIVER LANCHA TORPEDEIRA TORPEDO BOAT

This Gulliver Torpedo boat I saw online looks ace.

It reminds me a lot of a huge Italian toy I bought from a local boot sale earlier in the year.

ELLEGI INTREPID: ONE OF OUR SUCKERS IS MISSING

Some more pics of my new and huge Ellegi missile boat whilst the spring sun came out.

Here it is on a sheet next to a few die-cast cars ready for photo's.

The Intrepid is moored at the dockside.

Its orders have been delivered.

City roasters zoom past on the seaway unaware of its secret mission to save the world.

It carries four God Particle Rockets.

These will reverse global warming.

That's the plan at least!

Just need to find a spare sucker!
