The Dark Sight: plastic Bat Specs

 Arto picked up these terrific bat glasses this year.

I remember having a pair of these as a budding Batman.

I remember a vinyl cape and mask too. Not sure if they came with the specs.

Attached is a photo of me in my Thunderbirds IR uniform complete with Rotomatic Gun.

It was taken on Christmas Morning 1966.

As the gun habitually leaked so badly, it had to be emptied and dried otherwise I'd have a wet patch not just on the holster but around my unmentionables too!

It's difficult to see, but if you zoom in on the picture, you can possibly make out that it was not JR21.

I was impressed then, and am still impressed now, how accurate it was to the actual IR guns. Especially in comparison to the JR21 TB5, or the friction drives of TB1 to TB3.

But we were children then.

JUST THE JOB

 Some jobs just never made it to the toy factory.

I had a Post Office and a bus conductor and a supermarket as a kid.

I think I might have been an air traffic controller too.

But I never saw a window cleaner toy set or a chimney sweep toy set! For obvious reasons, but they would have been fun!

Even an Action Man outfit for jobs like that would have done. Imagine, an Action Man butcher or a carpet fitter! Why just firemen and soldiers?

What job toy sets would you have liked to see readers?

THE COMPLETE BERWICK THUNDERBIRDS UNIFORM

 

I always love seeing the Thunderbirds costume by Berwick from 1965.

I have a feeling I had one as a kid. Did you?

This set I saw this year looked mint and complete so I kept some pics. It had the cap, the elusive pistol, the sash and the box.

It even has the card Berwick cowboy standee which I understand is rare.

Have you seen the standee before?

When I was a kid I would have killed for the astronauts helmet from Ideal, the best I got was this fancy dress mail away that I think came from a branded Tea as a promotion, did any of the reader's have this mail away or have any info on it?

10th Bloggiversary Special: Vintage Spanish Thunderbirds Children's Uniforms and Accessories

This year I was intrigued to find pictures of vintage Thunderbrds uniforms made in Spain on Todocollecion.

They were released in 1967.

An ideal birthday prezzie I thought! Well, at least the piccies!

The translated items details were:

Original 60's Thunderbirds Playset "Guardianes del Espacio-Uniforme" made in Spain by MA.FI.SA-Sabadell, 1967. 

Size of the Box: cm. 45x36x14 (about 18"x14.5"x5.5").

So here it is, the terrific box and contents:

The same company MA FI SA also released a seperate Thunderbirds pistol and holster for the smaller budget I assume.

How these compare to UK Thunderbirds uniforms is worthy of further research if anyone fancies it!
