Technically, the earliest collectibles I've got are the toys I had as a kid and somehow, I've still got the actual ones.

Dinky Shado mobile and Ed Straker's car, 

The Lunar loop, the TN toys DC9 airliner, 

 a corgi mgb gt, 

Dinky Centurion tank 

and the tinplate car that got used as Doctor Mopp's car.

My Earliest Collectables

Scoops fab post reminded me of my very first collectables I acquired circa 1990, pictured,  including that super Space Ace pop-up book. 

Such fantastic days they were, my first discoveries in the vintage toy world. 

Pictured too is my first re-found Project SWORD toy, the Space Glider, which cost me a whopping £20 back then! I was so chuffed to find it. It brought it all flooding back and lead to my SWORD checklist later.

Batman became a favourite thing to find too. I was so excited when I spent quite a bit on a mint sealed Corgi Juniors Batmobile in a blister, from TV Toy Zone, which you can see bottom centre in the lower pic.

Alas, I re-sold everything here except the Glider and SWORD annual!

PART OF MY BATMAN PHOTO ARCHIVE

I do love Batman. The toys, merchandise and games too. Some of these here I've owned at some point over the last 30 years and then sold on, especially when I had a vintage toy stall years ago. The rest were part of my photo archive for research such as the IDEAL and Sears sets.

MY FIRST COLLECTABLES

 

Circa 1990, my own very early collection of space and Batman collectables just when I got the old toy bug.

Like Scoop I had a copy of the lovely Into Space with Ace Brave pop-up book, sadly long gone now.

MY EARLY COLLECTION 1990

Recently I found these shots of my early vintage toys collection from around 1990 including my first re-acquired Project Sword toy, the SPACE GLIDER (bought at an evening toy fair in Normanton - they were great!). The snaps were taken by a professional photographer mate of mine back then, which I have scanned for the blog. Around 1990, I started to buy Model and Collectors Mart magazine, which was absolutley wonderful. The classifieds were excellent and were the 'Ebay' of their day - I miss them a lot (I used to advertise for PROJECT SWORD information!) The mint bubble-boxed Corgi Juniors Batmobile in the bottom pic was my first purchase through the magazine - from the excellent TV TOYZONE. I was so excited when it arrived in the post. Those were the days! Alas, many of the toys pictured have been swapped/sold over the years.
