Thunderbird 4 by Any Other Name: Star Command Galaxy Airsub

Woodsy hello,

I just scored this on eBay - New Old Stock…

Dennis (GA Guide) N.

Pull Harder! A FAB1 Cracker!

During the summer car boot season I picked up this little old plastic FAB1, far right next to a Carlton one. I blogged it at the time.

About an inch long, here it is up close.

A mystery, I think it was Mish who first suggested a capsule or a cracker.

I consulted my Nicholson Guide to Anderson Merchandise and checked Japanese premiums first like Yujin. No. Morinaga. No.

I then came home and checked the British Crackers section. Bam! There it was!

A little FAB1 from a 1993 Boots cracker! What a prize!

I'd have loved it!

Checking the net, here's some pics of the box.

Prizes pictured on the box rear.

And Lady P's Rolls is off centre to the right.

Alan's Car

As far as I know this is Alan Tracy's sports car.

It's a Japanese miniature by Glico the candy kings.

I first came across this little premium in black and white in Dennis Nicholson's Anderson Merchandise guide book in the mid 1990's, the Bible.

In reality, as shown in these Buyee auction shots, it's a beautiful bright orange.

Do you like it?

Seeing Kevs and Yorkie's comments I thought I'd add the vehicles mentioned for completeness' sake.

Imai TB2 Container 4 with the yellow racing car. Box art by the master Shiguru K. Anyone got a pic of the built up car?

Radar Love

Another Japanese Glico mini Thunderbirds premium.

The wonderful Radar Car.

Glico. Like Kinder Toys, just cooler!

What do you think?

Spectrum is Blue

Ever since I first saw the Traffic Patrol Spectrum knock-off chopper I've been hooked.

First contact was a black and white picture in Dennis Nicholson's Andersonalia Bible in 1996.

A true blog legend, about 13 years later we got to see it in the colourful flesh when blog friend and Scarlet collector Terry H sent in pics of the real thing in his big collection.

It's a gorgeous thing and could easily be mistaken for a proper Bandai toy.

Do you like it? Do you have one?

TONY P'S SIGNED ANDERSON 'BIBLE'

Hi Woodsy,

This evening, while I was writing a reply to your "How did you hear about Moonbase Central" blog post, I made a reference in it to Dennis Nicholson's Anderson Memorabilia "Bible".

As I was doing it I remembered that I have a nice little souvenir - a copy of the Bible signed by the great man himself!

It happened many years ago.  I had a wining ebay bid on a batch of copies of "Thunderbirds - The Comic" and when I made contact with the seller, it turned out to be none other than Dennis.

I arranged to pick the comics up in person to save postage (and to be able to meet a legend) and made sure I took my copy of the Bible for him to sign!  Dennis was a true gent and showed me some highlights of his collection, including his full set of TV 21s and other gorgeous bits and pieces.

He said his only regret about the Memorabilia Guide was that he wasn't able to have it published in colour as, at the time, the cost would have been prohibitive.

At least now with the internet Dennis has had the chance to have some of these great items made available to the public in colour - see for example his merchandise guides on the great Supermarionation site at http://lester.demon.nl/superm/merchand.html, particularly the Thunderbirds, Captain Scarlet and Joe 90 guides at http://lester.demon.nl/superm/tbirds/merchand.html, http://lester.demon.nl/superm/scarlet/merchand.html and http://lester.demon.nl/superm/joe90/merchand.html.

Some pics of my autographed copy are attached.  And I've followed Dennis's message, as my collecting has never ended....

Cheers

Tony P
