I always admire the cool and colourful box art on the side

And immediately think of this fabulous Syd Mead artwork

 I was surprised to see this toy pistol described as a Blade Runner toy.

There is no further mention of Blade Runner except for the name in the title.

Is this really a Blade runner toy?

DECKARD'S CHASE SPINNER

 

I saw this online and realised I'd never seen this ERTL Blade Runner toy Chase Spinner car. Even after countless car boot sale visits I've never even seen one loose. It must be either difficult to spot or quite scarce.

As a design its not one I remember clearly in the film, although the more recent 2049 movie vehicle is much fresher in my mind.

VANGELIS RIP

I heard on the radio the sad news that Vangelis passed away this week.

When I was a young man I was aware of Vangelis but I can't say I knew his music well, other than Chariots of Fire.

So I was amazed to find out that he'd composed the soundscape for Blade Runner. Yes, tears in the rain and all that great noise and sound.

There was an interview on the radio with the composer of the later Blade Runner [2049?], who had met Vangelis at his home.

He explained that the original and full Vangelis soundtrack was never released but Vangelis played him everything. He was gobsmacked.

Is the released Blade Runner soundtrack something that you have? How was it released at the time, LP? 

Rest in Peace Vangelis.

I never knew Stacey Nelkin tried out for the role of Pris in Blade Runner! 

I had the pleasure of meeting her about 8 years ago at a Horror convention.

She's quite a charmer and I couldn't resist asking for a picture and some autographs.

Aside from Halloween 3, I also enjoy her in Serial and Mad Magazine's Up the Academy.

MUTE MOON

The countdown is on for my free month of Netflix coming to an end in 5 days.

I've seen some cracking stuff like The Equaliser with Denzel. I tend to watch films as I seem to get bored with Netflix Series as I did with Altered carbon. Its just me.

Tonight I'll carry on watching MUTE, a Netflix movie about a man searching for his girlfriend in a future Berlin. The Missus will be watching the Voice.

MUTE hasn't set the critics on fire, who are comparing it unfavourably to Blade Runner, but I really liked the Director Duncan Jones' last flick MOON so I'm giving it a whirl.

Perhaps the most poignant of all short elegies in Sci-Fi cinema, Roy Batty's rain-soaked swansong is a favourite of mine and Arto's. His replicant sadness makes his cessation above the silent Deckard all the more profound.

Rutger Hauer did such a fine job playing the role of Roy the new Blade Runner will be hard pressed to follow it.
