Who is Marchon Rocket?

I'm pretty clued up, I think, on Super Heroes.

So this costumed fellow on Worthpoint has me baffled.

Supposedly linked to Marvel Secret Wars, it's listed as a Marchon Rocket Bootleg/Knockoff!

Who?

Kang Moguras!

 I found this Kang figure and a massive plastic auger at the car boot! 

Yes!

Kang Moguras! 

The auger is the same colour scheme as the Masters of the Universe Man at Arms figure too!

WHAT'S ON TELLY?

A few things have passed across the Moonbase screens this week. Mostly Marvel films, namely the Fantastic Four movies. I like the Fantastics a lot but I still think there's room for a gritty remake like DC did with Batman films.

I wonder if the Fantastic 4 ever crossed over with the Avengers? I'd love to see a Thing Hulk stand-off! [just realised that the 2027 Secret Wars movie will bring some FF and Avengers together!]

Dr. Doom is an interesting character and reminds me of when I used to collect Secret Wars action figures, snapping them up loose wherever I found them. Very occasionally I got one of those flicker shields they came with too. 

Alas, I've sold all my Secret Wars ages ago, but I sill like those smooth figure lines.

Here's one  I saw online on Ebay.

Doom always reminds me of Kang the Conqueror, another megalomaniac with a suit and Secret Wars figure too, as seen above courtesy of Battle Grip.

Kang appears in Marvel's Quantumania and maybe feature in the upcoming Doomsday in 2026 [it was originally called the Kang Dynasty, but the lead has been convicted!].

Secret Wars itself gets the Hollywood treatment in 2027 with Dr. Doom being played by .... Iron Man Robert Downey Jr. Iron Man died at the end of Endgame so he needs a new suit.

Another film me and the Missus started was Extinction. It started a lot like Battle Earth, a violent alien invasion, and stayed that way. We turned it off, although I'd like to know how it ended.

I had a dabble with WHAT IF on Marvel's Disney channel. Agent Carter became Captain America. It was intriguing but I can't take adult animation seriously enough to stay interested, a fault of mine!

I'm Seeing Things!

 I think a lack of old toys in South Devon's charity shops is making me see things on holiday. 

Yesterday I saw this modern Paw Patrol armoured car on a shelf and could have sworn ...

.. it was this B.A.T from Manta Force! If only! ( I did find some free Manta Force in a Totnes street though. They give stuff away there. Not the B.A.T alas!)

Reading about Kenner's Super Powers I also started seeing things.

And this crazy Kenner Super Powers yellow spacecraft has the same swept back look as ...

..... This mad blue MOON Car with its magic eyeball. No idea who made this nutty toy or when!

DOCTOR DOOM SECRET WARS RACER FOUND IN SOUTH YORKSHIRE

On our last charidee shop run of the year, the Missus and me picked up a few things in Cudworth and Barnsley yesterday, whilst Yorkshire still has Tier 3 status.

Among my pickins were a couple of japanese style Glimmie dolls, a small Barbie in a jump suit, a micro machines ATV and a 1977 Hot Wheels Sheriff car.

But the stand out item has to be a plastic remote-control Dr. Doom car by Buddy L from 1984. 

There's not much info on these at all online but it appears to be a Racer as pictured here on Hakes' site.

Anyone ever have one of these?

Tales of Wolverine

There have been many plastic Wolverines.

Marvel Super Heroes, Projectors, X Men to name but a few.

Fans love the guy. Ol' Canuckle Head is up there in the premier league of heroes. Maybe even top!

My favourite Wolvie is without doubt the first real plastic figure of them all, the Secret Wars one from 1984.

It's a simple hunk of coloured plastic, a muscular design and smooth to the touch. It's not big either like all the Secret Wars Range

As with many of my fave toys this figure was the first Wolverine I ever found at a car boot sale and also the first Secret Wars. I fell in love with them both back in the early 1990's.

Over the next few years I found a few more Secret Wars figures like Kang, Captain America and Doctor Doom to mention a few. Much harder to find were the lenticular shields that came in the bubble cards but with perseverance it was possible and I found quite a few.

I added many other SW collectibles to my horde back then: a clock,  the comics and a Panini Sticker book, together with an annual.

My red letter day came when I went to Toys R Us in Birstall, Leeds back then. The clearance shelves were a treasure trove for the figure fan like me and all mint boxed. I walked away that day with a Secret Wars Doom Roller, Doom Cycle, Turbo Cycle and Spider-Man Motorbike.

These were joined by a Defenders of the Earth Mongor, a Marvel Super Heroes Captain America Turbo Coupe and last but not least a Secret Wars Rucksack!

Sadly none of this cool stuff is at Moonbase anymore. I've moved house since those heady days in the  90's, run a toy mail order service, had toy stalls at fairs, had an Ebay Shop and sold everything.

But with the release of each new X Men and Wolverine Movie like Logan currently clawing its way into fans' hearts I always think back fondly to that first loose Wolvie I ever found from Secret Wars back in 1990.
