Kevin's Blakes 7 Replicas at Brit SciFi 2024

At the end of September last year, I took part, in a very small capacity, in the Brit SciFi event at the Leicester Space Centre. There were loads of displays, panels and presentations, I was there with the Hyde Fundraisers and mounted a display of replica Blakes 7 props.

The event lasted for both days of the weekend and seemed to go down well.

Blakes 7 Scorpio Gun and Bracelet

Made these many years ago but for some reason haven't taken many photos. These are replicas of the gun and teleport bracelet used by our heroes in Blake's 7 season 4, when they downgrade their spaceship to a clapped out old freighter.

These are made from aluminium.

We've seen this saucer before in different forms. 

This is a wind-up Sace Shuttle. The auction said it was Dump n Go! Ha ha!

I love the look of the white spaceship on the box rear. The big orange antenna is unusual. The basic design of this crops up as a small toy in Apollo Moon Exploring toy sets and we have seen the larger ones like this by Blue Box and even one for Blake's 7.

Is it a range you know?

Quick scratchbuild of the box containing power cells needed for the mechanical heart of Ensor, the creator of Orac. Blake ends up with it and does deliver it, inheriting Orac in the process!

He shall recognise Deliverance and speak its name.

BLAKE'S 7 HEALING GADGET FROM SCRATCH BY KEVIN

Hi,

A quick scratchbuild of the gadget seen in series 1 of Blake's 7. Gan uses it to mend an injury to Jenna's arm. Judging by her amazed reaction, it must be more advanced than Federation technology and therefore part of the Liberator's equipment.

KEV'S SCRATCH-MADE BLAKES 7 'GAMES' THROWING KNIFE

Hi,

A quick scratchbuild of the throwing knife seen in the season 4 Blake's 7 episode 'Games'. The locals use them as a way of expressing their displeasure at the Federation's approach to things.

Vila doesn't endear himself when a trooper questions him about his possession of it. He tells him he found it, 'it was stuck in one of your men'.

BLAKE'S 7 SERVALAN TV SCRATCHBUILD BY KEVIN D

Just completed this scratchbuild of the little tv seen on Servalan's desk in Space Command HQ in the first half of Blake's 7, before she stages a military coup and declares herself President, which, presumably merits a bigger telly.

Recently finished another Blake's 7 prop. This is a communicator, seen on a desk in Space Command Headquarters in the episode Seek-Locate-Destroy. It is also smashed by accident in an outtake!
