The Japanese sense of wonder for all things sci-fi never ceases to amaze me.
My friend Terry H alerted me to these,
a couple of vintage gorgeous UFO spinners with the plastic winder handle.
The lithographs look like astronauts sat at consoles.
A lovely carded rack toy, I never had a cranked spinner like this as a kid. Did you?
The truth is out there in Japan!
I had something like this in the early 70s either from a newsagent or seaside toy shop in the UK. The launcher looks the same.The spinners were white plastic and had a hexagon (?) shape at the base. It also had stickers you could attach to the spinner top. But tne really cool thing for me as a kid was that if you left the stickers off they almost looked like the UFO saucers in Gerry Anderson's UFO TV series so I would use them with my Dinky UFO Interceptor. I've searched for years to find any pictures or details on who made them but unfortunately have found nothing.
