On New Year's Day we spent a most convivial afternoon at the remote Tan Hill Inn on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales, the highest pub in England.
Whilst warming up inside and with half a delicious stout, I read a few pages from my older brother's sixth horror novel, the Lime Pit.
What a pub!
Have you been somewhere remote where you've read a book?

Does Korea count as ‘remote’?
ReplyDeleteI reckon so Ed! What did you read?
ReplyDeleteThe first three Harry Potter books. In 2000, I saw one of the captains in our Group with a HP book and asked him if it was any good and he said emphatically "YES"! I grabbed the first volume from the Stars and Stripes bookstore and read it in one sitting, Then went out the next day to buy the second volume. The third volume came out later that year while I was still in Korea.
DeleteWow Ed, how amazing. You clearly like Harry Potter!
DeleteYeah - I’m hooked! LOL When I was younger I read a LOT of sci-fi and fantasy so this was right up my alley.
DeleteKudos to your brother for getting a Novel out there! SFZ
ReplyDeleteCheers SF! It's Steve's sixth one. He's kept going.
DeleteThat is really impressive. And you ain't a bad writer yourself - I still think your marvelous horror stories would make a great printed volume or three. SFZ
DeleteWhy thank you kindly SF.
