Clearing our my Father in Laws apartment in Germany I came across this old photograph amongst hundreds of ancient prints.
Its one of his German Friend's son's collection of cars and tinplate on his book shelves. I think the son was called Manhard. The shot is from decades ago, circa 1991 and I remember visiting him with my Father in Law.
The strange thing was that he lived in the very same flat that the Missus and me rented a decade earlier in 1981!
Small world!
Have you ever been back to the house or flat where you once lived readers?
Do you recognise any of these toys?
I think the four top left are Schuco which were of limited availability in the UK before the EU was joined.
ReplyDeleteYeah, Schuco would make sense Terran, which are naturally very popular in their home country.
DeleteGlad to hear you're back home safe and sound Woodsy. There's some nice stuff in this collection. Once my dad passed way back in '79 the house sold and I've never been back to Da Hood. I've seen enough photos to know I don't want to go back - too many things have changed and not for the better.
ReplyDeleteYeah, its strange going 'home' Ed I agree. I once stood outside my old patents' house, where I grew up, and the current owners came out and asked what I was doing! Alas, I wasn''t invited in. I must have looked well dodgy!
Deletehere's an indication of what my old neighborhood had become. I joined the Air Force in '78. In 1988 Jeffrey Dahmer was arrested in his apartment about seven blocks (as the crow flies) from my house!
DeleteBlimey Ed, Nuff said!
DeleteOkay, so I won't go into Sheryl Thompson's murder then :-)
DeleteYikes!
