I had to laugh at this, a huge red ball shoved into a folly at Roberts Park in Saltaire.
It brought back memories of the big mysterious white balloon in The Prisoner, which oddly enough, I never saw when I visited Port Meirion as a kid in the early Seventies.
Have you been to Port Meirion readers?
For some reason that red balloon you saw looks like a boxing glove?
ReplyDeleteWe visited Port Meirion in the early 70's. It was no longer the exclusive resort after The Prisoner show aired. Most of all it was easy to see how it's eccentric architecture could inspire 'The Village'
It does Terran! Ha ha. Yes, a strange place. I was there too in the 70's. Maybe we crossed paths!
DeleteI proposed to my wife in the alcove where the Buddha sits! Back in the early 90's Bill
ReplyDeleteIncredible! So poignant for you.
DeleteProperly called Portmeirion, the village is an absolutely magical place - I conspired to visit there once while there was a Prisoner convention going on, so I got to see all the outdoor events without having to sit through the tedious symposiums. Of course there's a very active fan club, and lots of interesting Prisoner memorabilia, beyond the Dinky Mini-Moke...
ReplyDeleteSounds fascinating. Do you have any memorabilia Anon?
